You are seriously wasting your money getting the old Quad core technology, for far less than what your paying for the Q9450 you could get a i7 or i5 which would cream that processor, and if you overclock it will blow you away...

I doubt he will be looking to overclock anything, he wants this pc to last a while, which is why he spending a weee bit of money. but thx for the info guys. the motherboard chosen was just so we had a rough price as we couldn't find a mobo we liked.

errrm overclockers sells pc's pre overclocked! in all the many years i have been overclocking cpu's i have NEVER had one fail.... EVER! so please do not assume that overclocking is going to damage the cpu, this is one of the many reasons that makes pc gaming so much better than ghey consoles because you can overclock your machine.

unless you friend wants to keep the computer for more than 10 years it might last 2 years less due to overclocking. so then 8 years doesnt sound so bad for +50% massive performance gains.
